Kyiv Investment Forum 2020
Yesterday, September 10, the Kyiv Investment Forum 2020 was held at the Parkovy Exhibition and Convention Center. The event was organized by the Department of Economics and Investments of the Kiev City State Administration. The main idea of the Kyiv Investment Forum is the development of local industries and cultural traditions of the city as a way to enter the international cultural, tourist and business space. The slogan «Go local, think global» became the slogan of the event.
The Investment Forum was opened by the Kyiv City Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, who told those present about the nearest plans and goals. «For a long time, my team and I have been developing an ambitious plan: how can Kiev enter the TOP-100 cities of the world in 5 years», the mayor said. – This is a clear step-by-step program, the foundation for the implementation of which we have laid the previous 6 years!», – added Vitaliy Klitschko.
International and Ukrainian investors, opinion leaders, Ukrainian business, representatives of local governments, creative and IT communities discussed the development directions of the capital region as an ultramodern European agglomeration attractive to investors, tourists and innovative entrepreneurs.
A separate part of the Kiev 2020 Investment Forum was devoted to the development of industries with significant investment potential, in particular, the art industry.
Thus, during the panel discussion «Cultural heritage and a new image of Greater Kiev», participants discussed ways to popularize contemporary art, the role that artists play in the development of a modern city and the mutual integration of business and art. It was noted that during the pandemic, art quickly switched to digital, many art projects were implemented in new formats: online exhibitions, online galleries, online auctions. Both artists themselves and art galleries began to use new technologies, in particular, such as virtual reality (VR) and others.

ZINAIDA has created the prints in which she combines traditional Ukrainian ornaments with various images of the Motherland Monument. For many, this monument is a visiting card and a symbol of Kyiv.
«In the work of «Matusia», everything is said in the language of symbols: from actions to images, from an idea to its perception», says the author of the ZINAIDA project. – It combines art, culture and fashion. The image of Ukraine is conveyed in the form of hand-made ornaments, and Kiev is symbolized by the iconic sculpture of the city – the Motherland-Mother, and they are one. At times, the image of the Motherland-Mother is contradictory, at the same time it embodies a single «matusia» («mommy») for me.
In the «Matusia» («Mommy») collection, the metropolitan, Kyiv headscarf returns to us again in an archaic ornamental solution and with the soul of a new time with the helping hand of the artist ZINAIDA.
Symbolism and the revival of traditions, the expression of historical codes in contemporary art form is one of the main directions of her oeuvre.
The ornament is a kind of code that tells about the emotions of the artist. It helps the viewer to discover their own feelings in a new palette of paint.
The ornament is like a puzzle that absorbs the culture of the native land, the art of generations and the thoughts of the artist. In its space there is everything: seen, heard, lived. This is how a story is born that everyone can touch.
One of the slogans that will present the capital of Ukraine is considered the slogan – «Kiev – the city where everything begins».
At the forum, representatives of the cultural community discussed where the interest of the whole world in our capital should begin.
The world famous Ukrainian artist Ganna Kryvolap believes that until now Ukraine in the world is first of all known and associated with Chernobyl. At the same time, many our artists have something to offer the world – just need to be more ambitious and confident. At the same time, Kiev needs a Museum of Contemporary Art as a platform for promoting artists and sculptors. Abroad, such institutions are a magnet for both – tourists and collectors. Ukraine, however, still lacks a civilized art market.
The logo of the Kyiv Investment Forum 2020 is a painting by Ganna Kryvolap from the Kyiv Horizons series. Kyiv occupies a special place in the artist’s work – here Ganna was born and raised, received an education, and then became world famous.
The Ukrainian-Danish artist, one of the most influential and provocative innovators of contemporary collage in the world – Serhiy Svyatchenko, participated in the discussion on the live stream from Denmark. He noted that today art should look for ways to integrate into business, and a successful business should support contemporary art. How this works could be seen on the example of the offices of many companies, in which artwork is used to decorate the exterior and interior.
Art Director of Abramovych.Art Viktoria Kulikova is sure that people, who invest in art, form a new image of the country. She notes that contemporary art, such as sculpture, improves the appearance of the city, making it interesting for both tourists and investors. There is a wonderful example in Kiev – Landscape Alley (Peyzajna Alleia). The sculptures there are recognizable in the world as «Rain» by Nazar Bilyk – a symbol of the connection between man and nature.
Within the framework of the discussion panel «Cultural heritage and a new vision of Great Kiev, as a long-term strategy for the humanitarian development of the community and increasing the tourist potential», the participants expressed important theses, on the basis of which an appropriate program for the development of the city could be created.

– It is necessary to attract artists, architects and historians to implement interesting projects that will shape the image of the city.
– It is important to preserve the authenticity of not only the city, but also the country as a whole, which can be integrated into the overall image of the capital.

– Are the names of our artists known abroad? The question is rhetorical. Ukraine is associated more with Chernobyl, corruption, but we have a great cultural heritage that needs to be more actively presented to the world.
– The Museum of Contemporary Art could become the location that would show our artists, attract the attention of tourists, and develop the cultural space around us.
– It is necessary to create a civilized art market.
