Maxim Yamandi

Artist Maxim Yamandi works in the direction of realistic expressionism with portraits and the figure. He creates graphic illustrations, in which he combines motifs of traditional Japanese prints and author’s stylisation of the figure.

In 2017 he graduated from the M.B. Grekovs’ Odessa Art College.

Yamandi is a great amateur and master of miniature: his creative works rarely exceed A3 format. He prefers watercolour, oil and marker techniques in painting.

From early childhood, the artist was influenced by Japanese masters of prints and Western comic book creators.

As a teenager Maxim Yamandi became interested in portraiture, which opened the way to enrolment in art school, where he continued to experiment with images and forms.

The artist draws inspiration from ethnography, travelling, music, vintage things and, of course, love. It is love that Maxim considers to be the most beneficial beginning that leads any true artist forward.
