The artist Maria Lis belongs to the family of T. G. Shevchenko, therefore she always believed that the love of art and creativity was transmitted by blood. The artist received her name in honor of her great-grandmother, Maria Shevchenko.
After receiving a higher economic education, Maria studied at the National Academy of Culture and Art, then studied contemporary art at the Institute of Contemporary Art.
Maria has been practicing art since early childhood — at the age of six. And at the age of 12, she took part in the competition of the Cherkassy Art Museum, where her work won first place.
Maria is actively involved in exhibition activities and also is engaged in interior design. Over the past three years, Mary’s paintings have been presented at numerous national and international exhibitions, including within the framework of the ARTKULTURA project — MILANO (Ukrainian Art week in Milan), at the Art Reviviscence exhibition in Kiev, at the 8th Folk Ukraine All-Ukrainian Festival, in the gallery M17 and the Institute of Contemporary Art, as well as in the Ukrainian Art week in Kyiv.
In 2018, a personal exhibition of Mary’s works was held in the AMD design gallery.Pictures of Mary Pictures are in private collections: Lisbon, Stockholm, Istanbul, Doha (Qatar), Milan, St. Petersburg, Tbilisi, Odessa.
